149R Ring Out, Wild Bells

Title: "Ring Out, Wild Bells," Alfred Tennyson (1849), DEUS TUORUM MILITUM (L.M.), New Title: Same, rev. REH (2005), JERUSALEM (L.M.D), Charles Hubert Hastings Parry.

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
the fly-ing cloud, the fros-ty light;
the year is dy-ing in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let it die.
Ring out the old, ring in the new,
ring, hap-py bells, a-cross the snow:
The year is go-ing, let it go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.

Ring out false pride in place and blood,
the civ-ic slan-der and the spite;
Ring in the love of truth and right,
ring in the com-mon love of good.
Ring in the va-liant souls and free,
the lar-ger heart, the kind-lier hand;
Ring out the sad-ness of the land,
ring in the Christ that is to be.
